Johny's Coffee

Coffee Johny - This coffee shop in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta is no different at a glance with an ordinary coffee shop. But the buyers are not playing games. I wonder why?

The name of Kopi Johny has recently become a hot conversation for the people of Jakarta. Actually this coffee shop is not fairly new, originally called Kwang Koan with a variety of delicious bakpao mainstay.

Suddenly changed after famous lawyer Hotman Paris who turned it into Johny's Coffee. The reason is simple because it's easier to say and remember. Johny himself is the name of the owner of this shop.

Its location on Jalan Kopyor Raya Blok Q1 No.1, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. We came to him to prove how excited this coffee shop was in the morning, and at the same time wanted to experience the pleasures of coffee and its classic buns.

The new clock pointed at 07.00 in the morning when the food arrived, but many people had gathered to meet the chairs with long tables provided by this coffee shop. The ones lining up in front of the coffee making table were equally numerous. Online motorcycle taxi drivers and drivers take orders.

This coffee shop only provides three choices of drinks namely black coffee, milk coffee and milk tea. All three can be served hot or cold, all according to taste.

We also ordered all three of these drinks in the hot version, because they are more tempting and suitable for morning drinks. These three drinks are priced at the same price of Rp. 12,000.

Deftly the middle-aged man who is familiarly called Koh Johny poured milk into glass cups then poured it with coffee or hot tea. Smoke immediately billowed when a large pot of coffee and tea stew was opened.

Coffee in this shop is not formulated one by one using a machine like a modern coffee shop. Here coffee is formulated in a Malay-style manual. Coffee is poured using an elongated cloth filter, like socks. This method is often called pull coffee.

The aroma of fragrant coffee meets the coffee shop that is crowded with visitors. Refreshing! The black coffee is thick, the liquid from Robusta coffee from Toraja is suitable for lovers of black coffee. Although without any additional ingredients, this coffee has a relatively low acid content.

Can't drink solid coffee? Try ordering coffee milk. This mixture of sweetened condensed milk and coffee tastes more friendly on the tongue. A tinge of sweetness of milk becomes a bitter counterweight to coffee. But for the size of milk coffee, for us this is still quite bitter. Gagrak Sumatra's specialty milk coffee feels strong.

According to Koh Johny, milk coffee is the most ordered drink every day.

The last and most popular among women is the milk tea menu. The dominant sweetness with the taste of black tea is quite strong. In addition to heat, this one drink is a favorite served cold during the day, especially for buyers to 'take away'.

"Everything is a favorite but most people like hot milk coffee. A day can be used up more than 1000 glasses," Koh Johny said while serving buyers.
While sipping coffee and tea, it is best accompanied by snacks as well as a breakfast menu. There are delicious and soft bakpao in this shop. It's better because it's served warm. Yummy!

There are five choices of contents, namely chicken, green beans, peanuts, chocolate and pork. The basket is priced from Rp. 10,000 to Rp. 12,000. Affordable.

Not wanting to wait until it's cold, we immediately ate it. The texture is soft when split or chewed. The contents of the buns are also abundant and delicious so don't be afraid of being 'fooled' by their curvaceous round shape. Stuffed green beans and chocolate are solid.

While enjoying coffee, tea and buns, we watched around this coffee shop. There was a collection of dressed fathers and neat suits while putting a sheet of paper on the table. It seems they are discussing things that are quite serious.

Turning to the table next to it was a collection of young women who were chatting while laughing interspersed occasionally taking pictures. When we approached, it turned out that they came from various regions far from the Kelapa Gading area.

"We intentionally come here early in the morning, we promise to have a coffee together. It used to come here often, now it becomes more frequent," said one female visitor who came from Cakung, East Jakarta.

Johny's coffee seems to be a container that many people use to gather. But not a few also intentionally came and hoped to meet Hotman Paris. "Well, there's no hotman, bro. Even though I want to meet," chattered a man while lining up.

The famous lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea is often seen in this shop. Its existence is one of the 'triggers' for people who are curious and hope to get legal assistance from this famous lawyer.

Oh, yes, if you come to Kopi Johny in a private vehicle then try to arrive early because the more the sun rises, the more difficult it is to get a parking space. Let's copy!
