Java Ijen Raung - "Java Ijen Raung Arabica Coffee" is produced from Arabica coffee plants grown in the Ijen and Raung highlands with altitudes above 900 m above sea level. This area has cold and dry air, with sufficient rainfall for 5-6 months of the rainy season. The characteristics of the Ijen and Raung upland areas support Arabica coffee plantations.

Arabica coffee plants in the Ijen and Raung highlands come from selected coffee varieties. These coffee trees are planted under shade trees in combination with other plants and are managed and fertilized organically. Coffee red spindles are manually picked and carefully selected with a minimum proportion of 95% red coffee. Coffee red logs are then processed wet with fermentation for 12 hours to 36 hours, and dried naturally by drying under the sun.

The processing technique developed by Arabica coffee farmers in the Ijen-Raung area is combined with regional characteristics and the cultivation technique has produced high-quality coffee beans with distinctive flavors. Based on some results of sensorial analysis, it has been proven the characteristics above.

The position of the Ijen and Raung Arabica coffee area in the eastern part of Java, with its tropical region, is at a latitude between 07⁰ 56,130 ’- 08⁰ 01,527’ LS, longitude between 114⁰ 02.121 ’- 114⁰ 09.335’. This area has a cool mountainous nature that includes slopes and bumpy plains. The vegetation includes forest plants, horticulture and food crops and Arabica coffee plantation plants.


Ijen-Raung plateau is suitable for Arabica coffee cultivation, especially those at altitudes between 900 - 1,500 meters above sea level. This height is the ideal height for Arabica coffee. The average rainfall is 1,514 mm per year with an average rainy day of 101 days per year which is good for Arabica coffee cultivation.

Volcanic ash, with Andisol soil types that have high chemical fertility and soil physical conditions strongly support the growth of Arabica coffee in the Ijen-Raung region. A high level of soil fertility strongly supports the formation of the taste and physical quality of Arabica coffee beans produced.

In addition to the natural factors above, the residents of the Ijen-Raung region with their coffee cultivation and processing practices and local institutions are also important parts of this area that influence the quality and taste of Java Ijen-Raung Arabica Coffee produced .
Java Ijen-Raung Arabica Coffee production area has mountainous areas in the south and east and lower plains in the north and west. Geographically, this area is located on the island of Java and is included in the East Java province. Arabica coffee centers are spread in Sempol, Sumberwringin, Botolinggo, Arjasa, and Cermee sub-districts at altitudes of more than 900 m above sea level.

The Arabica coffee plantation area is an altitude area with topographic conditions that vary from flat, choppy to mountainous. In this area there are lungures that stretch north-south and coffee plantations are located on the hillside.
